Mona’s maritime diary: 6

24/10/2016, 11:12 hrs. Light cloud, 13 degrees Celsius, light Northeasterly breeze
(8 miles per hour)

A few tourists, early morning walkers stride along
the river’s bank. Further on my left, a veiled woman
is seating on the bench, reading something from
a book. She is smiling. I look at her, then the river and
my eyes are hit by colour. A bright red lantern is floating
over the water, playing with the wind, kissing the sky…
I want to catch it, touch it. So delicate it is, just swirling
around, like a distant dream. It’s the start of another week.
Without you. I am resisting.
